Power

These small yet mighty lights can help reduce your power consumption by a very large margin! On record, they have been known to save between 10-15% consumption daily (in relation with any other bulb). In comparison, running a LED a week longer than your average halogen bulb will reduce your power load by 105%. The lower power usage is because of the lower wattage needed to produce the lumens from these trendy bulbs.

Savings

Replacing your halogens, Incandescent and CFLs bulbs with LEDs biggest advantage is the annual savings. Putting money aside has never been simpler; nothing beats finding that your electric bill is lower than last year. In a typical kitchen the running cost are 8 x 50w GU10 lamps running 6 hours a day, every day; 8 x 50 / 1000 x 6 x 365 x 0.18 = £157.68 per year. Whereas other bulbs can cost up towards £250 a year. This alone sold LEDs to me.

Colours

This is not in correlation with red, blue and yellow (although LEDs can produce this colour). This is in relation to colours produced by temperature, including, cool white, warm white and natural white. LEDs can provide lighting to match your rooms style. This done using different temperatures (producing higher temperatures doesn’t use more than the needed wattage), a higher temperature will produce a more cool white, a lower temperature will produce a nice warm white.This lighting produced is measured in Kelvins (K) and works on septum from 0 upwards.

Shape and Size

Round, Square and Triangle? Because of the inner components being smaller than the average non LED bulb, they can be modelled around casing with ease. This is how LED bulbs are smaller than the average bulb; making them easier to hide away and fit into smaller places/fittings. LEDs can come in unique shapes and can be matched to most other bulb shapes.

Packaging

Packaging is now strictly regulated under new EU laws and must present complete and unbiased information on the performance of LED lamps, so consumers can make an informed choice. Meaning, choosing LED lamps has just got that extra bit more easier.

Brightness

LED products produce an unmatchable brightness. They are brighter than halogen, Incandescent and CFL bulbs by a very large margin. LEDs have been noted to reach a large array of places and is able to hit every unblockable area in a room without loss of any brightness. The brightness of LEDs is why they are commercially used in cars, warehouses, airplanes and searchlights.

Silent

Hear that? Me nether. LEDs cannot produce any sound because of the way they emit light. This means you get no hiss, flickering or “bump in the night” sounds. On the same note, they don’t have the means to flicker like incandescent lights; they are always on and will always produce the same amount of brightness from start to the finish.

Lasting Time

Lasting time in this point has multiple meanings. 1, how an LED product can keep the brightness steady from switch on to switch off. 2, the lasting time of a LED product from purchase to recycling. A standard LED can last up to 7 years! This average being the minimal; Most can expect them to last longer. 3, the lasting time of the lights kelvins. LEDs don’t lose any colour, they either work or they don’t; there is no in-between.

Modern

After the speed of light at the click of a switch? When you head into a dark a room, I expect you would like the room to brighten as quick as possible? I mean who wouldn’t? Other bulbs (expressly energy savers) don’t cut this, while LEDs do. LEDs lighting will work in an instant and keep the same tone of brightness from switch on to switch off.
